Maoist dictatorship looming over Nepal

Maoist Party Dictatorship Looming Large

News Blaze | Feb 7,2009

By Harihar Joshi, UK

The State of Nepal under the Maoists is turning into a state of USSR under Stalin or the Khmer Rouge of Cambodia. Everywhere Maoist agents are placed. No business can be opened without the Maoist agents pressuring the winning bidders to pay them a percentage.

Businessmen have to suffer from the very beginning and pay unnecessary donations to the Maoists. Besides forced kickbacks, the businessmen have to bribe government officials and pay regular taxes on the biddings. The businessmen, in order to cover up their costs have to levy ordinary people a heavy price for the services they provide. The Nepali people are forced to pay a high price for every service they are taking. The high price for the day-to-day commodities is making Nepali people suffer badly.

This Nepali people’s sufferings increase due to the growing inflation rate. The economic development path taken by the Maoist Government is completely wrong. The Maoist philosophy of big budget to jumpstart development activities is a copy of the Soviet model of development activities.

I do not need not to remind, that with such an economic plan the Soviet Union collapsed. However, the Communists ruled there for more than 70 years. Nepali Maoists want to rule as long as they can and don’t care even if Nepal faces Soviet style breakage. Republic Nepal with federation in small components is more vulnerable than the Soviet Union.

The placing of Maoist cadets everywhere for surveillance purposes makes it difficult for people to perform daily routines. The human surveillance put by the Maoists at the Tribhuvan International Airport (T.I.A.) makes it difficult for the Nepali people coming in from abroad. The Maoists who are empowered for surveillance have all the details of Nepalese abroad.

The Maoists take special note of the Nepali people who come from the United States, Japan and some Western European countries. Nepalese coming from these countries are vulnerable for extortion and kidnapping. Politically active expatriates are even more vulnerable. Those who raise their voices against the Maoists in favor of democracy and Monarchy are almost certain to face consequences.

The Maoist policy of keeping people under a tight grip by intimidation and threats by its affiliates such as Young ‘Democratic’ Communist League (Y’D’CL) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is similar to the Afghan Taliban and the present day Iranian government-imposed dictatorial rule. Nepali women are frightened to speak too much about household problems created by the terrible policies of the Maoist Government.

The policy of one party dictatorship with Communist philosophy is coming closer to implementation in Nepal. The Maoist party is trying to break the Unified Marxist Leninists (UML) and strengthen the extremist leftist grip. The small left groups are slowly moving into the Maoist fold.

Unless united under the principle propounded by the late BP Koirala, who throughout his life held that the system of Constitutional Monarchy is the only option, Nepal is on the way towards the fracturing of the nation, towards one party dictatorship by the Maoists. The international community and donors will have no choice except to accept the outcome since a few of the international community members also see their benefits out of Nepal’s tragedies.

By all means, the Maoist party dictatorship is looming large.

Chinese Year of the Ox

We’ve just entered the Chinese Year of the Ox, based on the lunar calendar.

How ironic, in the currently catastrophic economy (thanks to that asshole chimp Bush and his cartel of crooked cronies!) that the Ox is normally the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work!!

The Year of the Ox is denoted by the earthly branch character 丑. In the Vietnamese zodiac, the water buffalo (zodiac) occupies the position of the ox.

The Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. This powerful sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. As one might guess, such people are dependable, calm, and modest. Like their animal namesake, the Ox is unswervingly patient, tireless in their work, and capable of enduring any amount of hardship without complaint.

Ox people need peace and quiet to work through their ideas, and when they have set their mind on something it is hard for them to be convinced otherwise. An Ox person has a very logical mind and is extremely systematic in whatever they do, though they have a tremendous imagination and an unparalleled appreciation for beauty. These people speak little but are extremely intelligent. When necessary, they are articulate and eloquent.

People born under the influence of the Ox are kind, caring souls, logical, positive, filled with common sense and with their feet firmly planted on the ground. Security is their main preoccupation in life, and they are prepared to toil long and hard in order to provide a warm, comfortable and stable nest for themselves and their families. Strong-minded, stubborn, individualistic, the majority are highly intelligent individuals who don’t take kindly to being told what to do.

The Ox works hard, patiently, and methodically, with original intelligence and reflective thought. These people enjoy helping others. Behind this tenacious, laboring, and self-sacrificing exterior lies an active mind.

The Ox is not extravagant, and the thought of living off credit cards or being in debt makes them nervous. The possibility of taking a serious risk could cause the Ox sleepless nights.

Ox people are truthful and sincere, and the idea of wheeling and dealing in a competitive world is distasteful to them. They are rarely driven by the prospect of financial gain. These people are always welcome because of their honesty and patience. They are reputed to be the most beautiful of face in the zodiac. They have many friends, who appreciate the fact that the Ox people are wary of new trends, although every now and then they can be encouraged to try something new. People born in the year of the Ox make wonderful parents and teachers of children.

It is important to remember that the Ox people are sociable and relaxed when they feel secure, but occasionally a dark cloud looms over such people and they engage all the trials of the whole world and seek solutions for them.

Goodnight Irene Fah!

One night I got married
And me and my wife settled down
Now me and my wife are parting
I want to jump overboard in a river and drown
Goodnight Irene, goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I’ll see you in my dreams

Spin ; Hung Tung-Lu & Li Hui

Li Hui, F1, 370×120×40cm, Acrylics , LED lamp ,Stainless steel, 2007

from the excellent www.artzinechina.com

he theme of the exhibition is “spin”, which originates from the creative metaphor of the artist and the form of the artistic expression. In Chinese, spin actually means gyrate or convolution, which is usually adopted to describe the rotation of the top and called as helix.

Milan Kundera mentioned the same idea in his work The Unbearable Lightness of Being and quoted the concept of “eternal return” proposed by Nietzsche: There is nothing new under the sun. The history repeats itself continuously and forms the delicate helix. Such “return” reappears and repeats according to certain cycle.

The existence of human being is called as helix-type existence by Bachelard: The existence of human being is a kind of ever changing existence, which can hardly be described by any expression form. Controlled by the imagination, though one certain expression has appeared, another expression is still needed for the existence itself depends on the existence of another expression.

Li Hui, Buddhist altar NO.2, 240×130×80cm, Acrylics, LED lamp ,Stainless steel, 2007

Hung Tunglu has attempted to borrow the design of Buddhist Tang Ka with full understanding of the moving rules of celestial bodies, nature like the image of peg-top which represents everything on earth. Li Hui has adopted the method of patching up the partite objects and regressing to the original status of integration. Both of them have used the implication of helix as the creative theme, which is expressed with new media technology and material.

Marshall McLuhan, the Canadian media scholar had proposed the “rearview mirror” theory: Despite the advancing of the car, the rearview mirror always reflects the passing objects. In the same way, despite the continuous evolution of the science and technology, we always see the inverted image of the history in the new development. The most essential part of the civilization will be continuously fused into the new technology and belong to the intending advancement, actually which just stands on the existed base the same way as the mirror reflects the goodliness of the past.

Hung Tunglu, Spin, 10 mins, 3D animation, 2007

The exhibition will give full display to the artistic creation concept and artistic language of two artists—Hung Tunglu and Li Hui. Moreover, it’s highly hoped that viewers can experience and understand the eternal return of media evolution showed by two artists.

“Spin” is exhibiting at Tang galley in Beijing 798 art district till the end of this year.

No end to Chinese suppression in Tibet

by Achillies875

Despite the new “relaxed” media rules in China, Tibet is still very much excluded from free media expression, from freedom of speech.
Recently, China announced that the relaxing of reporting restrictions on foreign journalists which was first exercised prior to the start of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, will now be permanent. Well, just as long as you’re not trying to interview anyone from Tibet!!

According to Liu Jianchao on Oct 17:

“Foreign reporters still need to ask for permission to do reporting in Tibet and other areas that are off-limits to foreign reporters, like some military facilities”.

It’s easy to see what news China is trying to stop coming out of Tibet!

While journalists have been granted permission to enter low-risk areas, however those regions where major protesting has occurred – responded to recently by the killing of at least 13 Tibetans by Chinese armed police – such as Ngaba county and the Amdo region, are strictly off limits.

In these regions, there have been reports of civilians and even Nuns who have “disappeared” as well as Nuns who have been beaten in the street for defending their right to practice their religion and for refusing to denounce the Dalai Lama despite China’s demands that they do so.

A number of Tibetan filmmakers have been imprisoned too for attempting to tell their story.

So there is a total clampdown on freedom of speech. It’s clear that the Chinese policy is to stop the truth getting out and to reinforce its long held policy of denial!

When will China’s soul become more important than it’s face?

It’s all too easy for the Chinese Government to get away their repression of Tibet, when its mammoth economic clout unfortunately means that no other major power will speak up against its continued colonialist campaign in Tibet.

thanks purplezoe

Ni Hao, curvy “G little sister”

We don’t know this curvy hotty’s name but, typically weirdly, apparently she is known in China as the “G little sister”, the G standing for her cup size!

Some distant relative of Chairman Mao, no doubt!

Apparently she’s the boobiest beauty in Chinaland! Note that this isn’t the same sized G-cup we drool about in the West, but pretty fulsome nonetheless!

“G little sister” came to prominence in China after entering the Miss China Universe 2007 beauty pageant, and made the rounds of all the newspapers there.

She didn’t win, but the furor surrounding her melons produced loads of great pictures!

Hurrah!
