Frederic Remington – Shotgun Hospitality

//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a9/Shotgun_hospitality.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

A magnificent piece by Frederic Remington (October 4, 1861 – December 26, 1909), an American painter who specialized in depictions of the American West.

Remington was the most successful Western illustrator in the “Golden Age” of illustration at the end of the 19th Century and the beginning of the 20th Century, so much so that the other Western artists such as Charles Russell (who we also love) and Charles Schreyvogel were known during Remington’s life as members of the “School of Remington”.

You can see his influence ingrained in every great western movie … most notably in the works of the great John Ford.
