We’re All Going To Die?

Not me mate. I’m a vampire!

Malky needs to get the hell out of dreary Falkirk! No wonder he’s so fucking depressed!

Here be happy Malky!

Malcolm Middleton – A Brighter Beat (2007)

The image “https://i1.wp.com/ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/413pLTwB7GL._SS400_.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Malcolm Middleton – A Brighter Beat (2007)

The follow up to 2005’s ‘Into The Woods,’ ‘A Brighter Beat’ is the former Arab Strap star’s first release since the break up of the Scottish indie kings.

Middleton has created a reflective, at times brooding yet ultimately uplifting record which cements his reputation as one of the foremost songwriters of a generation, showing elements of Elliott Smith and Nick Cave whilst retaining his unique sound and style. Includes the single ‘A Brighter Beat.’

Fuck It, Malcolm, I Love You !!

Malcolm Middleton, one half of scottish indie legends Arab Strap, has gone solo and produced an absolute classic!

Unlike Graham Coxon who has let his talents fade since he left Blur,Middleton seems to have improved on Arab Strap with this collection of ten folky-gothic songs about passing time and the inevitablility of death.

Before anyone starts to think its all doom and gloom, there is a rich vein of caledonian humour throughout this album,in fact bittersweet is a good description.

The pace is even and brisk throughout with some piano led slower tunes and one or two horn driven pop classics!

Malcolm Middleton – Sleight Of Heart (ex Arab Strap) 2008)

Malcolm Middleton – Sleight Of Heart (Mar 2008)

Falkirk’s finest writer of songs about stuff like wanking on a Friday night while your ex girlfriend fucks your best friend, M and M is back!

The demise of Arab Strap last year hasn’t stopped our anti-hero writing songs about stuff like Blue Plastic Bags!

Notable for his particularly downbeat outlook on life, ex-Arab Strap member Malcolm Middleton’s fourth solo outing ‘A Sleight Of Heart’ finds him in similarly gloomy territory.

Though it is a largely acoustic recording with only Middleton and his guitar, contributions from members of fellow Scottish miserablists Mogwai and The Delgados on piano and drums fill out the sound.

As well as original songs, Middleton includes several cover versions on this release, the most notableof which being a mellowed reworking of Madonna’s ‘Stay’.
