The Raconteurs – Consolers of the Lonely (Updated post)

Album : Consolers Of the Lonely
Artist : Raconteurs
Release Date : 2008
Lable : Warner Bros.
Genre : Rock
Total time : 00:55:30
Total size : 110 MB

@ 320 Kbit/s mp3

So, just how is Consolers of the Lonely? It’s good. Quite good. And is easily the better of the two Raconteurs albums so far.

But the very things that made the band seem like it could be more than just another Jack White project aren’t emphasized in the way they need to be.

The result is a seriously solid rock album with flashes of genre brilliance.

The Raconteurs – Consolers of the Lonely (2008)

Mr ACDC/Delta Blues hybrid himself, Jack White is back with his side project compadres! Hurrah!

Their first outing was, frankly, way too overhyped. This one’s better.

The Switch and the Spur explores his new found interest in the painful world of Euro S&M clubs! Or maybe not!

Jack White speaks about Bob Dylan collaboration

Interesting piece from the bastion of Britrock and music hype, NME!

Jack White has spoken about his work on a project organised by Bob Dylan.

Dylan asked a series of musicians to write music for a set of unfinished lyrics by country singer Hank Williams.

White, who has now recorded his version of the Williams lyrics ‘You Know That I Know’ in Nashville, explained: “[Bob] came upon, somehow, 20-25 unfinished songs by Hank Williams, just the lyrics, no music, and he started to ask people if they would finish these songs.

“He did one, asked Willie Nelson to do one, asked me to do one, and I think Lucinda Williams and Alan Jackson are on it too. I think it might come out this year. It’s a cool record.”

Speaking to MTV News, White also hinted that he has yet another musical project on the go, in addition to his work with The White Stripes and The Raconteurs.

He said: “There’s some other stuff I have coming out, but I can’t tell you about it all just yet. You’ll have to be patient!”

The White Stripes – Conquest EP (256 VBR)

“Conquest” was released as the third single from the White Stripes’ album Icky Thump in December 2007.
It was released as a series of 7-inch colored vinyl singles, each containing the track “Conquest”. The tracks “It’s My Fault for Being Famous,” “Honey, We Can’t Afford to Look This Cheap” and “Cash Grab Complications on the Matter” appear on the black, white and red version of the records, respectively, with the latter featuring an acoustic Mariachi version of “Conquest”.

The various B-sides were co-produced by musician Beck, who also contributed vocals and piano to “Being Famous” and slide guitar to “Honey.”

Each single includes a trading card featuring famous matadors El Sloth, El Bianca Rosa or El Perdador!!!

And how can a matador called El Sloth avoid being gored by even the oldest and slowest bull??!!

A guy called perhaps El Leopardo would seem to have a better chance of a much longer lifespan in that game!

My name there would be El Stayo Inthe Baro.

Tracklisting

1. Conquest
2. Its My Fault For Being Famous
3. Cash Grab Complications On The Matter
4. Honey, We Cant Afford To Look This Cheap
5. Conquest (Acoustic Mariachi Version)

White Stripes – Icky Thump (2007) @ 320kbps

The image “https://i0.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/2/25/The_White_Stripes_Icky_Thumb.jpg/200px-The_White_Stripes_Icky_Thumb.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Icky Thump is the sixth studio album by The White Stripes. It was released June 15, 2007 in Germany, June 18, 2007 in the rest of Europe, and June 19, 2007 in the rest of the world.

Icky Thump entered the UK Albums Chart at #1 and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 with 223,000 copies sold. By late July, Icky Thump was certified gold in the United States. By the end of 2007, 1,235,000 copies had been sold world-wide making it the 39th best-selling album of 2007.

The title is derived from “ecky-thump”, a Lancashire colloquial response of surprise, popularized by the 1970s UK comedy series The Goodies. On Later with Jools Holland (broadcast June 1, 2007) Jack attributed the album’s name to its use as an exclamation by his wife, the rather tasty Karen Elson, who is from Lancashire. He added that the deliberate misspelling was to make it easier for an American audience to identify with.

Icky thump, with the lump
In my throat
Grab my coat
And now it’s reckon
I was ready to go
Yeah, I swam beside the hair
She had one white eye
One blank stare
Lookin’ up, lyin’ there
